Chapter 1: The grammar in this translation is not the best but I can understand it, and the translator is native. It's about a famous actor who goes back ten years and wants to live a different life this time, one where he can have a relationship freely with a man. As he's trying to convince his manager to back off auditioning for the 'first' time (he didn't get the role the last time around), the director takes a shine to him and he gets the role, dashing his plans.
Chapter 2.1: He still has to do a scene so the director can see where his acting is at. He considers pretending to suck but can't do it. He studied the script and movie after he he didn't get the role in his past life so hard. Apparently he had really bad luck in his last life and might have good luck in this one now?
Chapter 2.2: Yu Qing Huan is walking around after the audition when he runs into a man standing in the road. Where is this going? All he wants is to travel and meet a man but now he got a role that will make him so famous he won't be able to go anywhere without being recognized, and in the last life his company made him hide is orientation. And this guy he met has some form of autism and I know China especially has issues depicting that.
Chapter 3.1: I don't know how I feel about this... Yu Qing Huan is just sooo amazing, everyone loves him and is attracted to him but alas, he is too poor and busy, he will chat up the ladies but no, he cannot, he is gay! And why doesn't this new guy have a caretaker?? He doesn't know how to cross the road, he wandered from home and can't get back, he doesn't know his phone's password. All this leads me to think he has a level of autism where he needs a caretaker to help him and watch him. And I know Yu Qing Huan doesn't know, but how angry he's getting and the stuff he's calling this guy is hard to read. The reviews say there's character growth so I'll keep reading...
Chapter 3.2: How can you tell someone has OCD by their writing?? There is definitely plenty of infantilism going on here but it's supposed to be 'cute'. And the descriptions are weird, like why is there a crowd right outside a rich person's house for Yu Qing Huan to slip into? How did the worker get him a new spoon in zero seconds? And his food arrived out of nowhere.
Chapter 4.1: Even his mother treats Huo Qu like a baby. He's a genius but he's like 3 years old mentally. Did a doctor tell them he would never grow mentally? I bet he would remember stuff if they taught him through number mnemonics.
Chapter 4.2: Run-in with someone who didn't make the audition, saw that Qing Huan did and tried to one-up him.
Chapter 5.1: Hmm so Yu Qing Huan tricked his manager into letting him stay out of the spotlight so he can at least keep a low profile.
Chapter 5.2: Someone who also went to Qing Huan's school called out Gao Yun Cheng, guy from 4.2, and talked about Qing Huan, instantly shooting him to fame on Weibo...oh, and he won the jackpot.
Chapter 6: New translator. Qing Huan is donating most of the money to the village he came from, they supported him after his parents died in an accident when he was 12. In the previous timeline it took a few years for him to raise that money, and it's why he started acting in the first place. Huo Qu wanders off from his family when he spots Qing Huan on the way to a film meeting.
The story isn't what I was expecting from the summary, and since I read 'Again' recently it was too similar in the 'time rewind/famous actor/got a role he didn't before' path. I will keep reading though.
